We are seeking outdoor-oriented sessions for both formal and non-formal teachers, with topics ranging from Pre-K through adulthood. This is a "no screens” conference. All sessions must be able to be held completely outdoors. Workshops will be held rain or shine. Morning sessions are 75 minutes and afternoon sessions are 60 minutes. We will be accepting about 28-30 workshop proposals. Each presentation can expect 20-30 people to attend their workshop.

ANJEE conference participants typically include classroom teachers, park interpreters, environmental education specialists, non-profit administrators, youth leaders, environmental advocates and others who believe that education and environmental literacy are keys to a thriving world.

Thank you to the North American Association of Environmental Education, NAAEE, for the use of their 2026 conference theme.

Please see the attached map of Camp Matollionequay to help with your planning

Priority will be given to workshops that center around the four threads below:

1.  Conservation and Environmental Education

2.  Connecting with Nature

3.  Educating for a Changing Climate

4.  Building Leadership in Environmental Education

All presenters will pay a reduced fee to attend the conference and present.

Wild Skills Camp by David Alexander
We'll explore a variety of outdoor skills through a “learn by doing” approach that encourages participants to develop skills through applied practice with content in context. Setting up a bear bag, navigating with a compass, crafting bone tools and shell necklaces, flint and steel, stick bread, campfire cookery, and more of my favorite easily reproducible activities will be presented. Be like Brian from Gary Paulsen's novel Hatchet and master these skills or die in the woods!

Natural Dyes by Pat Heaney
Learn how to gather plants from your garden, yard, or waysides to make colorful dyes. We will prepare and cook with several different plants to make a rainbow of colors on wool yarn. You will leave with a sampler of dyed yarns.

School of Rocks: Geology for K-5 by Victoria E. Devlin McLoughlin
During this workshop, participants will engage in an interactive geology school lesson developed for K-5 with a human-sized, walk-thru dichotomous key. This lesson encourages kids to recognize that by using skills they already have: using their senses, asking questions, and making observations, they can learn to identify many common rocks.

Wood, Wind & Water: Easy Breezy Watercolor Exercises for Contemplating Nature by Susan Lewicki
Be introduced to watercolor as both an accessible art medium and a means to mindfulness.  Using water from the site, guided reflection, and three classic exercises with a meditative spin, expression is in the process.  No art experience required, just an open mind.  All supplies provided.

If you would like to present a workshop, please complete the proposal below and submit. If you know of anyone else who would be a valuable presenter, please feel free to share this form.
